Through the time-lock function (costless as it is present in all Exagrid products), a time window of data integrity is applied which protects it from any ransomware-type attacks.
The immutability of the data within the time-lock period (from 10 to 30 days) and their conservation within the long-term retention repository (not reachable via the network) prevent requests for cancellation/modification by the ransomware and, at the same time, ensure its complete recovery.
Through the use of self-encrypting disks, all operations are performed at the controller and disk level, thus without impacting performance or the backup software. . The result is a significant saving in the sizing of resources (Ram/Cpu) to be allocated to the backup servers.
